1. What CashShield is
CashShield is a job profit tracking tool built for New Zealand sole traders and tradies. You log your jobs (what you charged, materials cost, hours worked) and we calculate your profit and hourly rate.
That's all it does. It's a calculator with a memory.
2. What CashShield is NOT
CashShield is not a financial advisory service. We don't give financial, tax, accounting, or legal advice. The numbers we show are based entirely on what you type in.
CashShield doesn't replace your accountant, your tax return, or professional financial advice. We're a quick way to see if a job made you money — not a tool for making financial decisions.
If you need financial advice, talk to a qualified professional. We're just here to help you track your numbers.
3. Your account
To use CashShield, you create an account with your email and a password. Here's what we expect:
- Accurate info: Use a real email address. We use it to identify your account.
- Secure password: Pick a good one (at least 6 characters). Don't share it with anyone.
- One person, one account: Your account is yours. Don't let others use it.
If someone gets into your account because you shared your password, that's on you. If someone gets in because of a security flaw on our end, that's on us — and we'll fix it and tell you.
4. Your data
You own your data. The job names, revenue figures, costs, and hours you enter belong to you. We just store and display them for you.
For details on how we handle your data, read our Privacy Policy. The short version: we don't sell it, share it, or do anything dodgy with it.
5. Your responsibilities
We keep things running. You're responsible for:
- Accurate data entry: CashShield calculates profit based on what you enter. Garbage in, garbage out.
- Account security: Keep your password safe. Log out on shared devices.
- Legal use: Don't use CashShield for anything illegal. Seems obvious, but we're saying it.
- No abuse: Don't try to break, hack, or overload the service. Be a good human.
6. The service
We provide CashShield "as is" with reasonable care. Here's what that means in plain English:
- We'll do our best to keep it running and reliable
- We'll fix bugs when we find them
- We might add new features or change existing ones
- We can't guarantee 100% uptime (no one can)
- We're not liable if a calculation error costs you money — always double-check important numbers
We're a small team building something useful. We care about getting it right, but we're human and things break sometimes.
7. Pricing and subscription
Free trial
Every new account gets a 14-day free trial, starting the day you sign up. You get full access to everything during the trial — no credit card required to start.
Paid subscription
After your trial ends, CashShield costs $12 per month (NZD). Your subscription renews automatically every month on the same date unless you cancel first.
Auto-renewal: Your subscription renews monthly. We'll charge the same payment method you used to subscribe. You'll get an email reminder before each renewal so it's never a surprise.
When your trial or subscription expires
If your trial ends without a paid subscription, or your payment fails, your account switches to a read-only view. You can still log in and see your data — you just won't be able to add new jobs until you subscribe. Nothing gets deleted.
Cancellation
You can cancel any time — no lock-in, no cancellation fee. When you cancel:
- Your subscription won't renew at the end of the current billing period
- You keep access until that period ends
- Your data stays safe. You can reactivate later and pick up where you left off
Refunds
We don't offer refunds for partial months. If you cancel halfway through a billing period, you keep access until the end of that period — we just won't charge you again after that. If something went wrong on our end (like a double charge or a bug that stopped the service working), email us and we'll sort it out.
Existing free users — grace period
If you had a CashShield account before our payment system went live, you get a 14-day grace period from the date payments are introduced. That gives you time to decide whether to subscribe without losing access to your data mid-use.
8. Deleting your account
Want to leave? No hard feelings. Here's how it works:
- Request deletion: Email cashshield@polsia.app and we'll delete your account
- What gets deleted: Everything. Your account, all your job records, your profile info. All of it.
- Is it reversible? No. Once deleted, your data is gone. We don't keep backups of deleted accounts.
We make leaving easy because we'd rather earn your loyalty than trap you.
9. We might end the service
We hope CashShield runs forever, but we're being honest: if we ever need to shut it down, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice and a way to export your data first.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by New Zealand law:
- CashShield is provided as a tool — not professional advice
- We're not liable for business decisions you make based on CashShield data
- We're not liable for lost profits, data loss (beyond what we can control), or indirect damages
- Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986
We won't try to weasel out of genuine responsibility. If we mess up, we'll own it.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do:
- We'll update the "Last updated" date at the top
- For significant changes, we'll let you know in the app
- Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by New Zealand law. Any disputes will be resolved in New Zealand courts.
